FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Plain answers about our Singapore practice gallery — engagement model, fees, intake, document handling and common misreadings of our name and domain.

Is LawMotion a fitness, wellness or lifestyle brand because of the .life domain and the word "motion"?

No. LawMotion Pte. Ltd. is a Singapore law practice. The .life suffix and our name refer to measured progress through legal work — briefs that move from intake to advice to filing to resolution — not yoga studios, wellness retreats, fitness coaching or lifestyle programming. We do not sell exercise classes, mindfulness courses or nutrition plans. If you arrived expecting a wellness brand, you have misread our purpose: we are counsel for businesses and directors, providing commercial contracts, corporate advisory, dispute assessment, employment counsel and compliance reviews under formal engagement letters. Formal legal advice always requires a conflict check and written scope — never inferred from domain branding alone.

What is The Practice Gallery?

It is our working metaphor and office posture: legal matters arranged with visible structure — labelled stages on the filing arc (Brief · Advise · File · Resolve), readable memos, and gallery rooms at Robinson Road suited to mark-up sessions. It is not an art dealership or exhibition space open to the public; it describes how we organise counsel delivery.

What is the difference between a matter fee and a retainer?

A matter fee covers defined legal services for a specific instruction — for example a contract review, dispute assessment or policy audit — with scope and fees estimate set out in an engagement letter. A retainer provides a monthly pool of advisory hours for ongoing questions, quarterly compliance touchpoints and negotiation support. Both require conflict checks; neither guarantees commercial outcomes or tribunal wins.

What are typical fees in SGD?

Indicative ranges as at 21 July 2026: practice call and short advisory opinions from S$950; commercial contract matters S$2,400–S$14,000; dispute assessments S$2,800–S$18,000; employment counsel S$1,600–S$9,000; compliance reviews S$950–S$4,200; regional anchor projects S$3,200–S$16,000; retainers from S$2,600/month. All figures are estimates subject to scope, complexity and conflict results — quoted in writing before work begins.

How does intake and timeline work?

Contact us with a short description of your issue. We conduct a conflict check, usually within two business days for standard enquiries during office hours. If we can act, we send an engagement letter with matter scope, fee estimate and document transfer instructions. Timelines depend on complexity — we will not promise instant dispute resolution or same-day litigation filings except where urgency is agreed in scope.

When is website information legal advice?

Never, by itself. Content on lawmotion.life is general information about our legal services and Practice Gallery method. It does not create a solicitor-client relationship. Formal advice requires your instructions, a conflict check and a signed engagement letter from LawMotion Pte. Ltd.

How do you handle client documents?

Documents are transferred through agreed secure channels, stored under PDPA-aware access controls, and used only for the engaged matter. Retention follows our Privacy Policy and engagement terms. We do not train automated systems on client data. Access is limited to assigned counsel and permitted processors under contract.

What do you not do?

We do not guarantee wins or recoveries, do not act as a marketing agency, do not sell AI-income courses, do not provide fitness or wellness services, do not operate as a visa mill, and do not accept instructions that ask us to misrepresent facts. We are a law practice focused on measured counsel for Singapore businesses and regional teams with a Singapore law anchor.

Do you handle full litigation?

Our focus is advisory, drafting, negotiation and early dispute assessment. Where court or arbitration proceedings are required, we advise on strategy and may act or refer co-counsel with your consent — always with clear scope boundaries and fee estimates before substantive work.

Can we meet in person?

Yes. Practice calls and working sessions are available at 79 Robinson Road, #08-01 CPF Building during Mon–Fri 09:00–18:00 SGT by appointment. Regional clients may use secure video with the same agenda and follow-up memo structure.
